6 (Thoughtful) Last-Minute Gifts

This post may contain affiliate links.  Click here for more on what this means.

If I’m being honest, shopping for my kids is easy. They’re 4, and they’re happy with just about anything. I have the hardest time shopping for my husband, and that’s what I tend to put off till last. Part of why it’s so hard is that I want to be thoughtful but the longer I wait, the harder it gets! This year, as part of my efforts to simplify the whole Christmas scene, I’m trying to do less “stuff.” With all the subscriptions and digital gifts out there, I promise it’s not too late for a thoughtful AND clutter-free gift!

Here are just a few ideas that you still have time for that are not only perfect for that last-minute no-time-for-shipping gift but are also really thoughtful.

1. Gift of Podcast

Ok, you may not expect this from me (the admitted overbuyer), but the Gift of Podcast is ABSOLUTELY FREE. This is kind of fun in that you can pick out a podcast that you think your person will love and introduce them to it (and to podcasts generally, if necessary). Gift of Podcast will provide you with a 2-page personalized PDF that you can present to the recipient, including directions on how to access and listen to a podcast. This would be fantastic for older parents or grandparents who may not know how to do this already, or even those who know how to listen to a podcast but might not be aware of a podcast that you think would be absolutely perfect for them. So, even though it didn’t cost you any money, it’s extremely thoughtful.

2. Audible Gift Membership

I spend a decent amount of time in my car driving to/from work/school/etc etc etc, and one of the things that I love to pass the time is listening to audiobooks. I often say that the burden of driving becomes a gift when we find productive ways to spend that time. I’m currently listening to The Hypnotist’s Love Story by Liane Moriarty. I will tell you – listen to an audiobook where the reader has the local accent. It’s SO much better than reading it in your head with your boring old American accent. Plus with Audible, you can sync your audiobook to the Kindle version if you also have it on Kindle, and it seamlessly picks up where you where last reading or listening. You can get anywhere between 1 month to a whole year as a gift. You get 3 titles (1 audiobook and 2 Audible originals) a month, plus 30% of any additional titles you purchase. Ok, I will stop gushing about how much I love Audible, but I’m telling you, if you have a book lover in your life, they will NOT be sad with an Audible Gift Membership.

3. Masterclass All-Access Pass

If the person you’re shopping for is one of those people who wants to know a little bit more about….oh…everything – this is a great one. Masterclass offers on-demand courses on a variety of subjects from writing to comedy to photography, all taught by masters in the subject. You can take a makeup course taught by Bobbi Brown, creative writing by Margaret Atwood, shooting and ball-handling by Stephen Curry… I could go on, there are so many good ones! Right now, the All Access Pass is buy-one-get-one, so this could end up being a little gift for yourself too! This will give you access to ALL courses for an entire year. Or you could gift this to 2 people, if you’re feeling selfless – that’ll have to be your personal life choice.

4. Flytographer Gift Card

Jeremy and I recently used Flytographer vacation photographers on our trip to Montreal (see picture above of me scooting around with my broken foot in the snow at the Old Port). You let them know where you’re traveling, and they will set you up with a local photographer to get professional photos taken of your vacation. This is such a great gift for anyone who loves to travel, but especially for the moms who are so often the ones behind the camera. If you use my referral link, you’ll get $25 off your first photo shoot.

5. Shipt Grocery Delivery

There is no busy woman out there who wouldn’t LOVE a Shipt membership. In my area, in addition to grocery stores, they also deliver from TARGET. It’s a dream. A 12-month Shipt gift membership is only $49 right now. A 12-month membership is normally $99, so this is an amazing deal. Even if you’re considering getting Shipt for yourself (which you SHOULD – lengthy post about how Shipt has changed my life coming soon), you should convince someone to gift it to you in order to get this great price.

6. Trunk Club Gift Card

Again, a Trunk Club gift card is something any busy woman will absolutely love. Here’s how Trunk Club works: if you’re not already a Trunk Club member, you simply download the app, enter in your info – size, height, style preferences, etc., and a personal stylist will send you a “trunk” full of clothes and accessories to try on. You keep what you like, and send back what you don’t. Trunk Club is currently offering a bonus if you purchase a gift card on or before 12/25, so if you purchase a gift card for someone else, you get a gift card as a bonus. It goes all the way up to a $200 bonus if you purchase a $1,000 gift card. Who doesn’t want to feel like Pretty Woman once in a while, trying on and buying ALL the clothes?

And you’re done! (Well, till next year)

Even if none of the ideas I recommend work exactly for your needs, I hope my post at least serves as a reminder that, with all the digital gifts and subscriptions out there, you still have time to get the ones you love something thoughtful and do a little better than shoving some cash into an envelope. Happy holidays, and good luck!
